After months of planning and a long night of deliveries, Santa Claus needs a vacation! The Sheraton Waikiki Hotel in Hawaii has a great idea for Santa and Mrs. Claus – relax and sunbath on the beaches of Hawaii.
In preparation for Christmas, the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii got into the Christmas spirit by creating sand sculptures of Santa and Mrs. Claus. The hotel brought in 20 tons of sand and a team of expert sand sculpture artists to create three, seven-foot-tall sand sculptures. The theme of the sculptures is Santa arriving the day after Christmas to take a relaxing vacation. Thomas Koet and his partner Jill Harris created these three sculptures which took them three days to complete.
The first sculpture depicts Santa and Mrs. Claus preparing for their trip (located under the hotel’s front entrance porte cochere). The second, shows the couple arriving in Waikiki and receiving leis (located in the front of the Koi Pond). The third sculpture is Santa and Mrs. Claus sunbathing by the ocean (located in front of the main lobby elevators).
The sculptures will be up until the first week in January.
